Cuckooz Commends: London Thanksgiving Round-Up
Words by Bea Mustocea, Tuesday 14 November 2017

Sharing is caring dear traveller; each week, a member of our knowledgeable team of locals shares their insider knowledge on what’s hot and happening in and around our nests.

With Thanksgiving knocking on our doors and every chance of getting overwhelmed by the one-too-many options the city offers, we’ve done some digging to make sure those who celebrate have their options filtered. From classic celebrations without the cooking hassle – to alternative gatherings aimed at giving thanks, London’s got them all.

1. Thanksgiving @ The Breakfast Club

The Breakfast Club is an all-year round hot spot, with outside queues outside almost all of their locations. But, trust us, it’s more than a hip, Instagram-friendly ode to American diner joints. However, to keep that aesthetic going, they take that all-American charm one step further and offer a feast catered for Turkey day. Our Hoxton presidents should be pleased to find that one of TBC’s installments is right on their doorstep. The menu is all you could ever dream to have on the very special day. Booking in advance is recommended!

2. Let’s Get Thank Full! An Alternative Thanksgiving with Food, Music & Storytelling @ The Imaginarium

For an alternative way to celebrate, head on down to London Bridge where Andrew Begay born and raised in the Dine’ Native American family, will share stories, music and an overall experience of their rich culture. The night aims to offer a transition between this ancient, living culture and contemporary way of life. Soul food will be provided by Slap Ya Papa, alongside complimentary cocktails from Mama Xanadu. And remember, all proceeds will benefit relevant charities. For tickets click here.

3.  Thanksgiving Dinner @ The Jones Family Project.

Downstairs from a thriving cocktail bar in the heart of Shoreditch lies the Jones Family Project, a cosy tweed plaid haven serving delicious and wholesome plates. For £30 a head you can enjoy a three course Thanksgiving spread topped off with a pumpkin pie for those whose bellies are yet to pop.

4. The Blues Kitchen, Shoreditch.

For those sticking two fingers up to tradition and opting instead for something a touch more contemporary, The Blues Kitchen in Shoreditch are offering an alternative 'all american' evening of buttermilk fried chicken, twice baked mac 'n' cheese and live brass music, starting from 10:30pm and on til late.

5. The Bootlegger, City of London

Looking for somewhere to party like it's 1929? London is filled with American speakeasy style bars taking influence from classic decor of the golden era. Some of our favourites include Nola and Red Rooster in Shoreditch and Louisiana themed Ninth Ward in Farringdon, but this season The Bootlegger gets our shout for their charming ensemble of live musicians who help create an intimate environment for those looking to cosy up this Autumn.

And, for those who'd rather stay in and cook - introducing some special treats from some of our lovely guests: the homemade Mac & Cheese of Josh and Naomi DuLac, directly from our exclusive Cuckbooks.
