Once a month, one of our locals fly the nest and writes up their wanderings to offer you a guide of some of Cuckooz favorite cities.

This month Sara has flown the nest and landed in Dubai.

Dubai is a city located in the United Arab Emirates. It is best known for its impressive architecture, as it houses the tallest tower in the world: The Burj Khalifa, which stands at 830 meters. It also has one of the largest malls in the world: The Dubai Mall, which is over 13 million square feet. If that’s not enough, it also has the world's fastest roller coaster: The Formula Rossa, located in Ferrari world, going as fast as 240 km/h. Below is what I did throughout my week stay in Dubai!

During my stay in Dubai, I went to Kite Beach where I enjoyed a day of tanning. To top off an amazing day, I got a burger from SALT. SALT is a permanent food truck located in several locations in Dubai. They are best known for their Chicken Cheeto burger with a side of fries and pink lemonade, which can be seen in the picture above. It surpassed all expectations!

Another attraction I visited was one I heard of from a friend called Tub Of Butter. Here you can get any celebrity's face on your cappuccino, making the drink much more enjoyable and entertaining. For example, I got Marilyn Monroe’s face, while my friend got Ed Sheeran’s. It is located on Sheikh Zayed Road, and while their location is great, they also cater. Along with my coffee, I enjoyed a plate of risotto. This is definitely a location I would visit again if I return to Dubai!

I then visited the famous Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world. It has 163 floors and is 829.9 m high. The Burj Khalifa is located right next to Dubai Mall, which makes for a perfect shopping day with the finishing touch of an amazing view.

Next, I went on a day trip to the desert where we took a 4 by 4 ride through the sand dunes. Once we reached the camp, we had local Arab food and shisha. We then went quad biking, rode camels, and took pictures with a falcon, a symbol of the United Arab Emirates! To finish off a great and eventful day, we stayed overnight in a tent, sleeping with a perfect night breeze.

I would strongly recommend visiting Dubai, as it’s a great city, and there's so much to do. I recommend visiting Atlantis, Motiongate, Ferrari World, Skydive Dubai, Ski Dubai, Zero Gravity, Base and much much more! My favorite part of the trip was the fact that the whole city exceeded my expectations. The food never failed me and I was genuinely astonished that the entire city was built in just 47 years! The best time to visit Dubai is in winter, when the weather is cool, since in summer it reaches up to 45°C. I hope this inspires you to visit!
