Cuckooz Curates: Craft Beer Rising @ The Old Truman Brewery
Words by Bryony Rosier, Friday 23 February 2018

Don’t know what’s on this weekend? We do… Cuckooz Curates is a weekly blog dedicated to highlighting our picks of the best events happening in East London. We’ve done the groundwork so you don’t have to.

This week, we caught up with James from Stone & Wood Brewery to discuss his top picks of the weekend...

Where do you come from and what do you do?

I’m from Brisbane, Australia. I split my time between working in a fantastic Pub, Richmond Tap Tavern, and being a brand ambassador for my favourite Australian brewery, Stone & Wood

Who are Stone & Wood?

One Australian’s first and best Craft Breweries making delicious beer in beautiful Byron Bay for 10 years now.

Who are you looking forward to seeing exhibit here at this year's Craft Beer Rising?

Its very difficult to pick just one... but I’m really excited to drink some Yeastie Boys beer! They’re always so damn good!

Do you have an all time favourite beer? If yes, what and why?

I go through phases and my taste changes all the time, but Broken Dream, the breakfast stout by Siren, is definitely one of my all time favourite beers!

Which part of London do you live?

What do you like to do in the area when you’re not working?

Play in the park... seriously I’m like a 6 year old... I love the swing!

What do you love most about London?

It’s a dynamic, ever changing, untameable beast! I’ve given up trying to keep up with all the events, all the new bars, all the great food and now I’m just succumbing to the glorious ebb and flow of the city. Living in London is almost like visiting a new city everyday!

What’s your favourite spot in the city?

On a good weather day, you cannot beat Primrose Hill! It’s weird, even though it’s not a massive secret, and it’s arguably the best view of London in all of... London, it’s never TOO crowded and touristy. Plus it’s a short walk from Camden so you can grab yourself some good beers, take a lovely stroll up the hill and watch the sun set while patting some cute dogs!

Where do you go to to find peace and quiet in the city?

Richmond Park! It’s so big you can actually get lost in there. I’ve spent large amounts of time in there without seeing any other humans, just a f*ck load of Deer.

Where’s the next spot on your bucket list of places to travel to in the world?

South America! I’m super keen to do a motorbike trip. I’d like to grab a bike  and drive through South America for a few months!

Thanks James! We hope you enjoy the rest of the weekend!
