Sharing is caring dear traveller; each week, a member of our knowledgeable team of locals shares their insider knowledge on what’s hot and happening in and around our nests.
Another experience to engage all your senses hits the Southbank in the House of Vans’ new commission. Award-winning design Studio PSK uses the opportunity to return to Waterloo after 2016’s Polyphonic Playground, exploring our relationship to color, lights…and adult ball pits?
Christmassy shades of red, blue and green will guide you through the tunnels in this psychedelic light show in a mind-bending experience that aims to ignite a hands-on exploration of optical illusions. To further twist your perception, lighting is paired with a musical score synchronized with the lights changing and it all culminates in an analogue ‘stop frame animation’ effect.
Through this commission, the House of Vans hopes to have analogue and digital worlds collide in all sorts of digital experience. Illustrations will spring to life in the Waterloo tunnels – and, if you’re feeling particularly artsy, you can create your own using red, blue and green stickers.
Welcome to Chroma.
And of course, as always, the Southbank never fails to deliver. So if you’re in the area and looking for a more classic winter fun – the 2017 Winter Market is in all its glory – bringing you festive food and drinks in the seasonal Nordic chalets. Who can say no to mulled wine and some London winter charm?
